[OOTD] Valentine Outfit

Hey there! Happy Valentine's Day for those of you that celebrate it! ^_^

Today, I went to my college's Formal Hall, and since it was a formal occasion, I got to dress up! If you want to see photos from it, then check out my diary post, but anyhow, here is my outfit:

With college gown, and without...

I'm wearing the Fatal Dress by Wolford, which is an "opaque, seamless tube for an individual style. Can be worn as a skirt, top or dress. Sensually soft, made of exclusive Velvet material." I came across this at the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet during my summer internship in Liverpool, and fell in love with it straight away. Luckily, the dress was 33% discounted at the Outlet! :)

You can do a lot of cool stuff with this dress:

But obviously this video is there to try to get you to buy more than one colour... T_T

If you only have one colour, then your options are limited, but so far, I've been able to turn this into a ruched mini dress, a respectable length dress, a mini skirt, and a pencil skirt. Maybe I'll do a showcase post in the future? ^_^

Anyway, this is the first time that I wore my Albano heels out, and they definitely got a lot of attention!

I kinda ran out of time and also don't actually own/use any foundation/BB Cream so kept my face bare but moisturised. I curled my eyelashes, added eyeliner, a flick of Dior's Diorshow Waterproof and a pair of false lashes from the Eylure Natural range. For the eyeshadow, I just used L'Oreal's Infaillable 027 Goldmine and left my lips blank. None of that really shows in this photo, since it was taken at the end of the night (and I have huge shadows under my eyes >_<) so oh well...!

Anyway, goodnight, and as always, comments = love love! :)

[OOTD] Snow Day

Hey there, remember when I told you about the shorts and boots that I bought a few posts ago? Well, I finally got a chance to wear them today, and guess what? I teamed them up with each other!

Song of the day: This Is War by MBLAQ (a little depressing but pretty beautiful ^^)

If you've read my diary post, then you will know that today it was a super snowy day in Cambridge, and that I had a lunch date with some friends! I felt like it would be nice to wear a shirt that I'd bought over Christmas and to dress it down with the shorts and boots. Here's what the overall outfit looks like:

Customary mirror shot.

Necklace: Pearls from China
Tank top: Primark
Shorts: Bay
Boots: Office

Eeek, didn't realise how creased the shirt was!

You can see the detail of the shorts better here. The boots have a four inch heel, and were 17% of the original price! Thank you January sales!

My outerwear: Coat from China
Accessories: As seen here

I'll do a post soon about the coat that I bought - it's pretty awesome as it's a 2 in 1 in that you can remove the fur lining and wear that as a separate jacket! :D

I was going to post about the coat earlier but I broke my camera whilst taking some photos of the coat... :(

Anyway, that's all for now! If you have any comments or critiques then do let me know! ^^

[Review] No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream for Dry / Very Dry Skin

Oooh lah lah, my first review! ^^
No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream for Dry / Very Dry Skin gives rich, intensive hydration to instantly nourish, energise and smooth for flawless make-up application.

No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream is the second and final step to complete your Beautiful Skin routine, through perfect moisturisation. With three formulations to suit every skin type, Beautiful Skin Day Creams lavish skin with TLC to hydrate, energise and balance.

With the added protective power of SPF15 and 5★UVA technology, the multitasking moisturisers help skin fight the harmful effects of the sun and keep you looking as young as possible. There’s also a range of night creams for every skin type, too, for truly tailored skin nutrition 24 hours a day.

RRP £12.50

Review:

The packaging was a simple design which looked like it was going for functionality rather than something that would look pretty on your shelf. I like the pastel colours on the box and product jar.

The consistency of the cream was medium: not too thick, but not runny either. Personally, I prefer my creams with a heavier consistency as I tend to associate that with a higher emollient content and with a higher degree of luxury. There was also a slight floral fragrance, but nothing too overpowering.

Upon application, the cream felt light, non greasy and was quickly absorbed by my skin. My skin felt softer, smoother and even glowed, but there were still a few dry patches on my lower face that meant I had to re-apply the cream two or three times (and even added my own moisturiser on top). My cheeks and upwards are less dry than my lower face so one application of the cream was enough.

I have been using this for the last couple of days! It's softening effects survive the strong air conditioning unit in our lab, lasting until the afternoon and only then do I feel as though I need to re-moisturise. Can't test the SPF 15 effects right now since it's going to be a looong time before we get any sunshine here! -_-"

Finally, in terms of price, at £12.50 this is one of the more expensive high street day creams on the market. Boots give out £5 vouchers for their No 7 range every now and then, so I got mine with one of those! ^_^

Rating: 3.5/5

[Haul] Boots, shorts, and super sensitive skincare

This is going to be an uber post of the things that I have bought in the last few days, starting with Friday when I came across a really cute pair of shorts from Bay that were sitting in a thrift store just waiting for me to buy them:

I've been trying out a few looks with them, and so far I really love wearing them with a white tank top, black leggings, heeled boots and long necklace ~ when I get a new camera I'll try to take a few outfit photos. Even though they are out of season, I've been wanting a striped pair like them for ages now so could not resist!

Next up is a pair of heeled winter boots that I got in the Office sale today. If you haven't been there already then you are definitely missing out since they had a sale where their flats and heels were £12 or less! Unfortunately this sale ended today but the salespeople told me that you will be able to find them online.

Now, onto the cosmetics:

Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips (to get rid of blackheads)
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (a cleanser for super dry skin)
Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes
No. 7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream (for dry or very dry skin)
MUA Makeup Academy Professional Eye Primer

I never used to think much about taking care of the skin on my face until I started to read beauty blogs ~ my skin was always super dry but moisturiser and sleep would usually do the trick. I figured that right now, things were fine so why bother to put effort in? But since prevention is better than cure, I've now decided to take an active interest in the maintenance of my skin, so will hopefully be doing a few reviews on some of the products that I've purchased, especially the dry skin products since I haven't seen that many skin care reviews that are for people with extra dry skin.

The lady that I spoke to at Boots was also kind enough to give me some free samples of a skin recovery cream from French company Avene:

Sorry about the slightly blurry photo!

Again, these are targeted towards super sensitive and dry skin, and are used as moisturisers after cleansing. Can't wait to try them out! :D

[Fashion] Dragon Dress!

This is going to be a series of posts in which I rave about an outfit that I really like! Whether or not I'd actually wear it is another question though...

Song of the day: Warrior by B.A.P. I am so addicted to this song right now!!

So without further ado, let me present to you Wang Luodan and her outfit at the 2012 CCTV Spring Festival Gala. I can't get over how much I love this!

Wow, that piece of arm bling is so freaking HOT!!

Although that arm is pretty much useless now other than as decoration.

Not so sure about the plastic strap but other than that, this is such a beautiful shoe! ^^

Yeah, I don't think you'd be able to move your arm with that on...

Erm, a more Photoshopped version of the first pic?

Verdict: I'd never wear it, because firstly, I'm not tall or skinny enough, secondly, my skin isn't nice enough, and thirdly, because I think that you may as well give up on the use of one arm for the duration of time that you have that badass blingery floating on it which makes me think that maybe this outfit really was just meant to be looked at, rather than worn. But nevertheless, this is still absolutely stunning and if I could pull it off, then I would definitely (metaphorically...) sell my arm to be able to wear that hehe.

Anyways, that's all for now! I do have a review for the MUJI eyelash curler that I bought a few weeks ago, and a coat that I want to show you but my camera broke last night so I can't take any photos! *sniff*
